The course will begin with an overview of abiotic factors. You will need to go to www.hippocampus.org/biology. Look for the presentations bar, then NROC collection. When you find the Biology AP look for the section called "The Natural Setting: Overview". Watch each of the following videos: Overview, Abiotic Factors Affecting Living Systems, Terrestrial Biomes, Aquatic Biomes, The Natural Setting: Summary. For each section write notes that outline the vocabulary and definitions. Think about how each of the factors interact with each other and the results of those interactions.
This should give you a good idea of the important elements of a biome. What biome does our area fit into? Does anyone know what this plant is?

The summer of the caterpillar
Welcome to the world of environmental studies. This blog is a place for all of us to exchange our observations of the natural world. You can write and post photographs of everything from what lives in your house to what lives in High Park. Try to be as specific as possible about your observations, and when taking a photograph place something beside it to indicate size.
I have not done this in a virtual format before, so we will see how it goes.
I was up north in a cabin with no power or running water. In the evening all you can hear is the sound of munching. Caterpillars fell from the canopy onto the porch. I have included several of them.
